Tales of Recovery~Religious Triggers, Issue and Addiction
Friday Aug 28, 2020
Friday Aug 28, 2020
Once again I am on here letting my voice speak of this intense habit humans have of returning to the addiction of certainty via the naming of a specific idol. I wonder why even after a deep awakening, a process of religious deconstruction and a time go healing- the addiction to certainty and returning to worship the idol of our childhood returns? Could it be.....superstition?
Who knows. Tales of Recovery.

The Sacredness of Meditation
Wednesday Aug 19, 2020
Wednesday Aug 19, 2020
On Tales of Recovery this week, I share some highlights of my experience with meditation throughout the years. As a little girl, in recovery, dancing, playing or out of a desperate desire to heal and find answers to my reality.
There are many ways we enter into this space of PRESENCE without always being aware of it. When we are little looking out the window on a road trip, sitting on the beach and listening to the waves, entranced in dance or drumming.... or even with a guide anxious to get it over with!
As I've grown into this sweet practice over the years I realize it is just that: SACRED. To be able to stop for a few seconds and know that we are breathing, alive, sensing it ALL... is a gift. Meditation Practice has helped me notice the beauty, the suffering, the grief and the joy all the while remaining grounded, calm, grateful and aware.
In the state of affairs we find ourselves in, this medicine (WHICH IS REALLY YOU) is available to all. Let's practice together~
May we breathe lighter~
May we breathe deeper~
May we awaken together~

On Death and Dying Part 1
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
Sunday Aug 09, 2020
On death and dying (part one) begins from a conversation on the difficulty of goodbyes, illness and end of life situations. Which are inevitable. Why are we so scared of the "D" word?
Can we begin to realize that it is not a superstitious omen to talk about our transcendence - but talking about death can be an awareness of the actual full and meaningful LIFE that we are gifted to experience here for a while. AND since it will end, how do we want to LIVE?

Why are we still drinking the freaking Kool-Aid?
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
In a world with so much available information, healing modalities, science based evidence on the power of meditation and connection....WHY are we still drinking the Kool-aid LIES of patriarchal religious belief systems and the toxic contracts on negative self-worth that these systems create? WHY?
What if we can imagine for a few minutes a day that we were born in a different setting, with no prison boxes, but a free and inclusive community that celebrates all lives? A community that is aware of the gift of life and our birthright of KNOWING we are love and light and divine beings?
What if we were told this every day growing up instead of : you must hustle for your worth, you are born evil and will burn in hell unless you comply to oppressing standards, pray the A,B,C prayer, and always follow these lame ass rules that are making us sick?
How would our lives be different if we could visualize this daily during meditation: That we are love and lovable and that we BELONG- to ourselves first and to everyone else.
We could meditate on that alongside a growing awareness of the 'lies and fake ass kool-aid' we think we must comply with. I mean do you really think its working out for you?
Let's check ourselves and switch out the outdated software. Sooner than later. For the LOVE.
RE-covering our lives,
G

Tales of Recovery : Cooking for my Dad, the Widow and Patriarchy
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
After January's episode of Walking my Mother Home...I find myself a few months later with a new widow (my dad) living in our granny flat. The plan to care for our elders and the opportunity to heal and love our parents as they age is set in place. The longing for wisdom keepers is real, but times have changed and when the 'wisdom keepers' don't realize this; they are robbed of their opportunity.
In this deep pool of grief we're swimming in, the sensation of anger seeping in as realizations of deep patriarchal (and colonialism, and religious oppression) patterns are swimming to the surface is real. Childhood trauma can be swept under the rug and lightened up as we grow and build resilience, but nevertheless, it is real and raw and it WILL rear its ugly head left unattended. My understanding of my mom's perspective is growing. I get you Ma.... whew!
The separation we create as we grow up with 'character' roles established by the bullshit system of patriarchal government needs to end. It gets in the way of love, authenticity and true connection.
This week on Tales of Recovery, I process some of these newly fresh awarenesses that are crawling in my body. The experience of knowing something in your mind, to then feeling it in your bones is the way of healing. The only way is THROUGH.
And here we go....
